#artmagyourself: the Winners Have Been Determined!
On the occasion of the Frieze Art Fair, ArtMag
wanted to know which artworks you love and asked readers and fans to
send selfies with their favorite artworks. The results of the campaign,
which ended on October 25, thrilled the ArtMag editorial staff – many
of the selfies were artworks in their own right. Whether at home, at
the London fair, or in a museum, the participants had fun staging
themselves and bristled with creativity. The spectrum of art ranged
from Marc Brandenburg to Gerhard Richter to Meschac Gaba’s “Money Tree” at the Deutsche Bank KunstHalle. And the portrayals themselves were continually surprising: art fans mirrored themselves in sculptures by Not Vital and Anish Kapoor,
photographed themselves in installations, or hugged their favorite
works. Particularly original and a favorite of the editorial team: a
snapshot with the “Vegetable Man,” a performer at Frieze London whose
head recalls an Arcimboldo still life.
We are proud to present the winner of the brand-new iPhone6: For his selfie, Sammy Sid photographed himself in picturesque countryside and finished in first place with 1,939 likes. The second-place photo was a picture taken by Alla Turculet of her boyfriend and herself in front of Veronese's "Wedding at Cana," the largest painting in the Louvre. With 1,232 likes, it finished well ahead of the third-place photograph, by Wanderson Wanderley, which received 823 likes. Congratulations! The main winner and the winners of the ten Deutsche Bank Art Cards, granting holders free admission to more than 60 museums worldwide, will be informed via Facebook. Resounding thanks to everyone who sent in selfies for our #artmagyourself action!
